A school recently built by Vizara. One of several Vizara dispensaries. Vizara extends health care to dependents.

Throughout its 130 year history Vizara has been a significant employer in Northern Malawi. It’s employees are a critical ingredient in the long term sustainability of the estate.

Vizara employs around 1300 direct employees.. The Estate has over 750 houses to accommodate its employees and their families. The total number of people who are dependent on Vizara, including employees and their dependents number around 6000.
As part of its social commitment, Vizara provides free mid-day meal to all its workers. To take care of their health issues, Vizara has three Dispensaries managed by qualified medical staff and provides free medical care and medicines to all our employees and their dependents.

Football and netball facilities are provided on all three divisions for workers recreation. Community Halls and Tuck Shops are also provided. Production based incentives are offered to workers to enable them to aim for higher take-home salaries.
The company is in the process of setting up a Co operative society which will in turn be responsible to provide all basic essential needs to all the employees at a Wholesale price.

Beyond providing for the well being of its employees Vizara is also committed to supporting the wider local community. The Company recently constructed at its cost a three class room school block at the government run Primary school at its South Chombe division. In addition to this it has also refurbished a Secondary school run by the government by carrying out civil and sanitary maintenance at the school.

In addition to its ongoing commitment to local education, Vizara has also recently made a significant investment to provide electricity to villages which are within and outside the boundaries of its south Chombe division by purchasing and installing a transformer.
